The Library Community Garden is a space where people of all ages can come together to nurture the earth, grow healthy, local food, and connect with their community. While the Library oversees the garden, it’s the dedicated volunteers who bring it to life—planting, maintaining and harvesting it throughout the season.
Our goal is to share the garden’s bounty with the entire community. Each week, fresh produce will be donated to the Good Neighbour’s Food Bank , ensuring those in need have access to nourishing food. Volunteers can also enjoy their fair share of the harvest as a heartfelt thank-you for their hard work and care.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR EVERYONE

Elementary and secondary school classes:
Teachers, take your learning outside!
This can be a one-time visit or weekly visits to the garden. Visits can be entirely educational or paired with students tackling some of the day’s tasks to be accomplished (i.e. weeding and watering). Students are welcome to bring some of the harvest home after their visits when available.
The garden will be open for class visits from the last week of May until the end of September.
Children and youth organizations:
Children and youth organizations can help with the daily garden tasks as well as register for special volunteer days. Groups are welcome to visit the garden for educational activities as well.

Intergenerational mentorship Program:
High school students who would like to volunteer in the garden for their Community Involvement Hours will be paired with a member of the Horticultural Society for regular visits to the garden. This is a great learning opportunity for those interested in learning more about gardening and growing food.
Individuals and families:
Every member of the community is welcome to volunteer in the garden. There will be opportunities for planting, harvesting and winterizing the garden in which we will need several volunteers. There will also be opportunities to help with regular maintenance throughout the gardening season. Individuals younger than 16 years old need to be accompanied by an adult.
The success of the Library Community Garden is the result of a community effort. Thank you to all our sponsors!
