Outreach services from the Library

If you can’t come to the library, the library will come to you

The Library provides outreach services including home delivery for persons with disabilities or caregivers who are homebound and have no alternative means of obtaining library materials as well as a monthly mobile collection delivery service to seniors residences & apartment buildings.

Library staff will work with you to find the homebound delivery program that best suits your needs.

Call us today to get library books, audiobooks, large print editions, movies or magazines delivered directly at your doorstep. We also partner with CELA to offer specialized collections such as audio books & magazines and other print-handicapped material.

Home Delivery

  • Who Is Eligible For Home Delivery?

Home delivery service is available to any Township of Russell resident, regardless of age, who is confined to a private residence, other residential facility or hospital because of a physical or visual disability, injury, illness, advanced age or caregiver responsibilities.

  • How Do I Register?

You or a family member, friend or caregiver should contact your local branch library to register and specify your needs.

  • How Does Home Services Delivery Work?

You may request specific titles or prefer asking library staff to select library materials for you according to your interests. We are flexible – the time and frequency of deliveries will depend on your indications and preferences. Outreach Services borrowers may benefit from extended borrowing privileges, including longer loan periods, and exemptions from late fees.

Delivery to Senior Residences and Care Centres

The Library also offers a monthly mobile collection delivery service to local seniors’ residences & apartment buildings, auxiliary hospitals and care centres.

We Need Volunteers

Outreach services depend on a regular group of volunteers who help us to reach out to residents who are temporarily or permanently unable to visit the library in person.

Contact the Library if you are interested in joining that dynamic team!
