Make Your Own Kaleidoscope

For children 6 years old and up.
Join us for a fun, hands-on STEAM activity. Using simple materials you’ll build a triangular mirror chamber and decorate your own spinning design to look through. As you turn your kaleidoscope and peer inside, you’ll see beautiful, repeating patterns created by the reflected light.

Come play with the Library’s LEGO collection! We challenge you to construct a sturdy LEGO bridge that spans the width of the drawing of a river. Work alone or with friends to accomplish this challenge.

Create a personalized piece of art by joining our Yarn-Wrapped Cardboard Letters activity! Using cardboard, yarn, scissors and glue, you’ll wrap your letter tightly with yarn until it’s completely covered — creating a colourful, handmade decoration.

Binary Beading

For children 4 years and older (younger children might need the help of an adult)
Learn the basics of computer coding in a creative, hands-on way with Binary Beading! Participants will use colorful beads to spell their name or a short message in binary code—the language computers use to store information—and turn it into a bracelet or necklace.
