Literary genres for all tastes: children’s books, detective novels, science fiction novels, poetry, historical novels and Canadian documentaries.

Learn a little bit about our invited authors below.


Amélie Bouthillier

Amelie B. is a young author from Embrun. She sees her poems as something someone can go to when needed for comfort. 
Lost poems is a compilation of poems whose main theme is mental health.


Marie-Claude Dubé

Marie-Claude Dubé has a degree in teaching. She is the author of the book Des étoiles dans les yeux and Parfaitement alignée.  Having practiced her career out of passion for a few years in the Laurentians in Quebec, in addition to a professional experience in Nunavut, she is the founder of Paradis Nature, a service that provides support and various activities for homeschooling families in Eastern Ontario. Always looking for new adventures in the four corners of the world and demonstrating a boundless curiosity for her profession, she does not hesitate to open up and experiment with different teaching methods to stimulate the joy of learning in children.


Renée Gendron

Renée has written romantic mysteries, contemporary romances, historical western romances, sci-fi romances, and fantasy romances.
She’s a structural editor for Fedowar Press. 

As for her other interests, she enjoys learning about history and military history.


Phil Gurski

Phil Gurski is the President and CEO of Borealis Threat and Risk Consulting Ltd.
He worked as a senior strategic analyst at CSIS from 2001-2015, specializing in violent Islamist-inspired homegrown terrorism and radicalisation. He is the author of 6 books on the subject.


John Haas

John Haas is an award winning Canadian author living in the nation’s capital of Ottawa.

John has been writing for most of his life and writes in the genres of Fantasy, Horror and Science-Fiction, with the occasional Mystery thrown in. 


Judy Horst Bastian

Judy Horst Bastian lives in Russell, Ontario. She is a mother to four grown children and grandmother of seven.

Drawing and painting have always been one of my passions. Writing and illustrating my own children’s book had always been a dream. Having many young grandchildren combined with social isolation during covid, was a good incentive to finally realize the dream.


Marc Scott

Teacher and professor for 31 years, published writer since 1996, Marc Scott is the author of some twenty works: plays, poems, novels for young people, detective novels, collections of French-Canadian and Aboriginal stories and legends. 


Consolato Sergi

Consolato Sergi is a pediatrician and pathologist working at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, affiliated with the University of Ottawa. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health. 

He welcomed more than 100 graduate students, fellows, undergraduate and summer students. He is editor in chief and in the editorial board of several medical journals and international agencies.


Sylvia Fiorita Smith

Silvia Fiorita Smith is a retired ESL teacher. She has a passion for writing and enjoys creative nonfiction and poetry. She has published two poetry collections and is at present working on her first novel.

Her other interests include quilting and painting. She just moved to Embrun from Montreal where she was born and raised.


Robert J. Trépanier

R.J. Trépanier has lived in Embrun with his wife for 30 years. He’s retired from the Federal Public Service and holds a B.A. and an M.A. in psychology, specialized in experimental psychology, learning and information technology. Writing science fiction is a passion.


Candice Vetter

Candice Vetter is a local author and journalist who has covered news and issues in Russell Township for over 15 years. She has written for numerous publications including The Winchester Press, The News, Le Reflet, The Vision, The Record and Villager, The Old Farmers Almanac, Ottawa Life Magazine, Canadian Homes and Cottages, The Western Producer, The Eastern Ontario Business Journal, Home Business Journal, Writers Journal, Harrowsmith Country Life, Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine, and others.
