Founded in 1972, the Township of Russell Public Library has been a steady and trusted presence in our community. What began as a small, local resource has grown into a deeply rooted and much-loved gathering place—shaped by readers, learners, families, and neighbours who have woven the Library into the fabric of everyday life.
Today, we are proud to introduce a renewed brand that reflects not only who we are, but where we are going.
Why Now?
As our community evolves, so too must the Library. The Township of Russell continues to grow and welcome new residents, bringing fresh perspectives, needs, and opportunities. While many long-time patrons already feel a deep connection to the Library, we recognized the importance of reaching those who may not yet know all that we offer.
This moment also coincides with an exciting milestone: the construction of a brand new Embrun branch. As we expand our physical spaces alongside our services and digital experiences, it is the right time to ensure our identity clearly reflects the role we play today in our community.
A Community-Driven Approach
This project was rooted in listening.
To shape our new brand, we partnered with Cinnamon Toast Media Inc., who conducted a brand audit and review that included carefully reviewing insights from the 2023 patron survey and facilitating two brand discovery workshops with community members. These conversations reinforced what we value most, while also highlighting opportunities to grow.
Participants described the Library’s future personality as warm, welcoming, and community-minded. They emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, inclusive space for all ages, while embracing the beauty and rural character that define the Township of Russell. These ideas became the foundation of our renewed brand.

Rooted in literacy and storytelling, and designed to support every stage of life, we blend tradition with thoughtful innovation to create a safe, inclusive space that fosters curiosity, creativity, and connection.
Our Tagline – Where Exploration Takes Root
This phrase captures both discovery and belonging. “Exploration” speaks to learning, creativity, and innovation across ages and languages, while “takes root” reflects our deep connection to the Township of Russell —its rural landscape, its people, and its enduring sense of community. Together, it expresses a space where curiosity is nurtured, growth is supported, and meaningful connections flourish.
Our Logo
Our logo highlights the Township of Russell Public Library as a welcoming community hub, symbolized through interconnected, branch-like elements that convey growth and shared experience. The symmetrical structure creates a balanced feeling that reflects our space as a peaceful and dependable place to gather and learn. Abstract leaf shapes link literacy with growth, while soft greens and terracottas add a sense of warmth and inspiration to the design. The clean sans-serif font keeps the mark modern and forward-looking.
